Το αφεντικό - Is this neuter?

Question

I understand "το αφεντικό" means "the boss", as opposed to a manager.   Is this masculine or neuter and if neuter would a woman boss be called this or would it be αφεντικίνα?

"το αφεντικό" could easily refer to both a male and a female boss, but it is commonly used for male bosses; the "η αφεντικίνα" is also in use, referring only to the female.
