Airplane and "αεροπλάνο" sound the same.  Do they have the same root?  Is it Greek or English?

Air-plane and αερο-πλάνο, they are very similar indeed.

Airplane comes from the Greek compound word αεροπλάνο (αερο-πλάνο).

The first part “αέρας” means air.  The second part “πλάνο” comes from the verb “πλέω” which means float.
