The root verb is "χαίρομαι", which means "to be happy".
The past tense is "εχάρηκα" and means "i was happy".
In modern greek, thought, we just say "χάρηκα" and not "εχάρηκα" ( we omit the "ε").
"εχάρηκα" is an older form, which is not used nowadays.
