when does όπου becomes που ?

In which situations do we drop the "ο" from the "όπου" to make it a "που"?

όπου and που are two different words.

όπου means where.

που means which, that.

Example:

Το μέρος όπου βρέθηκε ο ύποπτος ερευνάται από την αστυνομία. = The place where the suspect was found is investigated by the police.

Η απάντηση που έδωσες είναι λάθος. = The answer that you gave is wrong.

Το παιχνίδι που είναι πιο δημοφιλές σ'αυτό το σχολείο είναι το ποδόσφαιρο. = The game which is more popular in this school is football.

It is incorrect to use που instead of όπου or όπου instead of που.
