The correct is “αυτά λέγονταν” or “αυτά λεγόντουσαν” (Παρατατικός τρίτο πληθυντικό, Past continuous third plural).

The form “λεγόταν” is third singular of past continuous.  For example: “αυτό λεγόταν χθες”.
