Accent and words in Cyprus vs Greece?

Are there differences in the accent and words between Greek spoken in Cyprus and Greek spoken in Greece?

I am about to start learning Greek but I want to make sure I will be understood in Cyprus which is where I will be living.

The accent of Greek language in Cyprus is a little bit different from Greek spoken in Greece. There are also some words that are used in Cyprus as idioms.

But you will be understood in Cyprus for sure. I would not worry about this.
