In my native language (Portuguese) swearing about religion would be completely out of the question. Most of our cursing is sex related, very much like English. But apparently in Greek it's not at all unusual to hear something of that kind. So I was wondering in what kind of context someone would use religious profanity.  Thanks.

Swearing about religion is not common in Greece as a very large number of Greeks respect God.  When someone does it, he is usually full of anger and hate and probably regrets it after he calms down.
