I understand of course that a priest is Παπάς  but in the vocative - say of I was to meet him in the street and say 'Good morning Father' in English this would sound correct. However, in Greek would I say Καλημέρα Παπάς  (Good morning Priest!)

That would sound like 'Good morning priest!

So what is the correct address in this instance?

Hi

"παπάς" in Greek means "priest".

When we address a priest in Greek we don't say "good morning priest", but "good morning father", which is "Καλημέρα πάτερ".

"πάτερ" is vocative case of the word "πατήρ".

"πατήρ" in ancient Greek means "father".

Have a look at this answer too: how to say "reverend father"?
