Hi! I'm trying to learn Greek by writing a journal - but I can't figure out how to say the date. I would want to write out the date in full as I'm trying to learn my numbers but I'm confused whether to use 1 or 1st in this context. There aren't loads of resources for this so I was hoping you could help. For instance, with today's date:

Friday 3rd/Third of August

Hi

The most common way in Greek is to write the day of the week, then the day of the month, then the month and then the year:
Example:
Παρασκευή τρείς Αυγούστου 2018

We capitalize the day (Παρασκευή) and the month (Αύγουστος).  The year, in the end, is optional.

Day of the month : We use the feminine version of the number, when it exists :
1 : μία
3 : τρεις
4 : τέσσερις
13 : δεκατρείς
14 : δεκατέσσερις
21 : εικοσιμία
23 : εικοσιτρείς
24 : εικοσιτέσσερις
31 : τριανταμία

The rest of the numbers (between 1 and 31) have just one form anyway.  ie
2 : δύο
5 : πέντε
6 : έξι
etc...

Months : We use the Genitive case :
Nominative : Ιανουάριος
Genitive : Ιανουαρίου (of Janouary)
Nominative : Αύγουστος
Genitive : Αυγούστου (of August)

Short version :

3/8/2018 (dd/mm/yyyy format) or

3/8/18 (dd/mm/yy format)
